Welcome to  Highveld Shavings

Your trusted partner in premium pine shavings production. With a commitment to quality and biosecurity, we oversee every step of the process, from transporting fresh pine logs from the forest to delivering vacuum-sealed shavings ready for use. Our meticulous approach includes shaving, drying, and fumigating the pine logs to ensure optimal moisture content and safety. Housed in our secure, rodent- and bird-proof facility, our product guarantees consistency and excellence.

The flow process of shavings at Highveld Shavings

At Highveld Shavings, the process begins with pine logs transported from the forest to our log yard. The logs, with a moisture content of 30% to 50%, are fed into shaving machines. The resulting shavings are then screened to remove large pieces and conveyed to a rotary kiln, where they are dried to a moisture content of 6% to 13%.

After drying, the shavings are fumigated with Stabisan VC and Triazolol L in a closed environment. They are then moved to a biosecure area for additional chemical fogging, which ensures maximum surface contact with the solution for thorough and uniform treatment. The shavings are then wrapped, vacuum-sealed by bailing machines, and stored in a rodent- and bird-proof facility. Access is restricted to authorised personnel, with strict biosecurity measures, including shoe and vehicle disinfection, enforced for anyone entering the biozone.
